Lake Wakatipu completed

I have added warmth to the sky and highlights on the mountains and worked on the foreground rocks and water.

The black background has been good for this area however I think I will stick to white canvas in future.

Wakatipu

Starting to get some detail into the painting .

Painting in the rocks – some of which will be covered with a blue wash later

to look as though they are under the water.

Lake Wakatipu

I have never painted on a black background before and am finding it hard at first to see the colour on the canvas.

I have roughly blocked in my composition .

The Remarkables were too close so I have gone over them with a blue wash to put them more in the distance.
